Margaret River in April

The Huntsman!!!

"Huntsman spiders (Sparassidae, formerly Heteropodidae) is a family of spiders also known as the GIANT crab spiders, due to their appearance" (Wikipedia...).
We FINALLY (...) have met our first (and hopefully last!!!) Huntsman spider. It visited us in our nice cosy bungalow in Margaret River. In fact it was chilling out in our living room, checking the view through one of the big windows, when Gretta got up at 4am because Lukas was making too much noise and she decided to continue the night on the sofa. What a "pleasant" surprise to find Mr Huntsman. The good thing about Huntsmans, for those not (yet) in the know, is that they are completely harmless. Yes, we know it's hard to believe, but it's true. The thing is, when you meet a Huntsman in the middle of the night your heart still races at a speed previously unknown to your heart and you. Now another good thing about the Huntsmans is that they are extremely slow, so you have ample time - really true! - to calm down, walk to the kitchen, get a glass and a piece of paper, make a trained (Ticino lässt grüsen!) "catch the spider" move, and carry it outside. By the time the spider realises what's happening, you're already getting ready to release it. Only this time the spider had to wait a couple of hours till Martin got up, cause he would NEVER have believed the story otherwise. And for all those that were worried: The Huntsman made it off sound and safe despite this momentary imprisonment. END OF THE STORY...

Bye bye Nini

I promise...

that I am trying to catch up with the backlog of photos and stories to tell. The last few months, oh, the last half year, was crazy. Isn't it always? Yes, it is. But more than ever? I guess somehow yes... anyway, will do my best to get more photos uploaded shortly. Don't give up on us, not yet:-).

Singapore - March 2010 - THANK YOU Vicky and Jak!!
